Joey Cat, Serena the micro-beagle, little orphan Annie Cat, Katrina, and Jason all found each other—much as Katrina’s characters find each other and themselves—after dark times or uphill climbs in their lives. Or both.

Joey, who left this earth in April, was Katrina’s beloved editorial assistant, draping himself over the crook of her left arm while she works. She is learning to soldier on without him. This summer, a starving little skeleton cat became the newest addition to the pack. Skittish, shy Annie is making progress and learning that cuddles can be nice. Serena sings on command and loves to patrol the garden and (not) scare away the rabbits.
